COMMUNITY MEDICINE TRAINING PROGRAM

Departmental Objectives

At the end of this training program, the participants should be able to

  1. Aware of the community lifestyle and appreciate community values, norms, tradition and customs
  2. Aware of the roles of governmental and non-governmental organizations in implementation of health care activities in the field practice area
  3. Describe the defined community: demographic, social economic, environmental, health status, and health resources - including public as well as private and traditional.
  4. Describe the organizations and administration of health services in the field practice area
  5. Identify prevalent diseases both communicable and non-communicable, in the area through compilation, analysis and interpretation of available data from health care facilities
  6. Identify and analyze health problems of the defined community to arrived at community diagnosis through involvement of the community and various disciplines
  7. Formulate health objectives and draw action plans to give feasible actions to solve the health and health related problems of the community using available resources through integrated efforts of various disciplines
  8. Provide community based medical care and referral services in the community through multidisplinary actions
  9. Realize the importance of full community participation for sustained community health actions
  10. Eagar to get involved in health and community activities for the total development of the community
